Both agreed on dreams and musical tastes to form a group that would play their own songs in Spanish inspired by The Police and The Cure. From that moment began the long search for musicians and the name with which they would make history. Charly Alberti joins the formation along with other temporary musicians such as Richard Coleman, Daniel Melero and Andrés Calamaro . Among the names proposed for the band featured Aerosol , Side Car and The Stereotypes , the latter inspired by a song from the band The Specials . After these names came the proposals of "Soda" and "Stereo" resulting in the name of Soda Stereo with which they were maintained until the separation of the grouping.
