Four functions will have the wonderful work "L'Orfeo" by Claudio Monteverdi, composer celebrated this year the 450th of his birth, which occurred on May 9, 1567 (incidentally, the same year of the founding of the city of Caracas).
This work will be brought to the scene by the Camerata de Caracas, under the direction of Isabel Palacios teacher.
Monteverdi used the libretto by Alessandro Striggio, who in turn chose to compose a beautiful story that is divided into a prologue and five acts texts of the "Metamorphoses" of Ovid and "The Georgics" of Virgil.
Orpheus with his lyre, love with the beautiful Euridice, fascinates and enchants the creatures of hell to bring back his beloved.
This assembly, emblematic of the Venezuelan group, will feature the participation of Luis Cabrera and Jerónimo Ramos (Orfeo), Claudia García (Euridice), Martín Camacho (Pluto), Greilys Bracho (Proserpina), Natalia Díaz (Music) and Yenny Quintero ( Mensajera).
There will be four opportunities to appreciate this beautiful work, considered one of the first operas composed in a transition period between the Renaissance and Baroque styles: Friday, 28 April (6:00 pm), Saturday 29 April (5:00 pm ) and Sunday, April 30 (11:00 am and 5:00 pm) in room José Félix Ribas of the Teresa Carreño Theater.
