Resident is in a very special stage of his career since he is working alone. The former member of Calle 13 has in mind to conquer movie screens, and his recent documentary Resident and sets tongues wagging.
He recently appeared at the SXSW Film Festival, held last March 11 in Austin and where conquered the spectators. All this without mentioning his other two appearances during the festival, 14 in the Rollins Theatre and 16 in the Zach Theatre. Rene Perez was undoubtedly one of the artists most sought after by the media.
Recall that Resident is based on a world tour that made the singer to find out about their ancestors, explore their creative process and exposing local stories, while composing music with various communities along the way.
This documentary explores the human condition, as well as the ways in which art and music transcend cultural, social, economic, racial and political divisions. All this while leading the audience on a tour of four continents, seven countries and numerous regions, including Siberia (Kyzyl), Moscow, the Caucasus (North Ossetia, South Ossetia, Georgia and Armenia), China, Barcelona , London, Ghana, Burkina Faso and Puerto Rico.
