An extraordinary Stradivarius violin, known as Ex-Croall, will be auctioned on 28 March. Such objects combine the artistic with the value itself, and in particular made violins in Cremona by the master Antonio Stradivari enjoy high reputation for the quality of its sound: more than three hundred years after manufacture, persists quality woods and especially their varnishes.
This instrument has been touched by masters of the violin, as Suyoen Korean Kim and Frank Peter Zimmermann and Alexander Gilman, among others.
This time, it is expected to raise more than one million euros, and in the case of the violin, is considered a key tool in developing the style of Stradivari, who lived between 1644 and 1737. Exactly, Ex Croall was conducted in the 1680s, a period when Stradivari was determined to find perfection of sound, and, according to experts, the violin bears witness to this.
