Brazilian singer Loalwa Braz Vieira, interpreter global success the Lambada, was found charred in his car on Thursday Saquerema, in the region of Rio de Janeiro, said a police source.

"Yes, I can confirm that," he told AFP a policeman from the local police station, without giving further details.

According to the carioca press, the body was found charred inside the vehicle vocalist of the group Kaoma, not far from his home.

The presence of two armed men was alerted near the home of the singer during the night, according to the news website G1, which speaks of "preliminary information" of the local Military Police.

Loalwa Braz Vieira acquired a brilliant and ephemeral world famous in 1989 as lead singer of Kaoma group to launch the theme "Chorando is foi", better known as "La Lambada".

The lambada is actually a tropical musical genre that fuses carimbo, merengue, salsa and zouk rhythm-a native of the West Indies French- which became Braz Vieira Brazilian icon in the 1980s.

"The Lambada" which was unveiled next to a colorful and sensual video, became famous worldwide and sold millions of copies in more than 100 countries.
