Colombian singer Shakira will receive during the next World Economic Forum, held from 17 to 20 January in Davos (Switzerland), an award that recognizes personalities from all areas that are "examples of leadership" globally. Shakira "is a passionate advocate of education, particularly in the early years of life," the Forum said in a statement, noting that at age 18 he founded the Pies Descalzos foundation that has created six schools in Colombia.
The singer couple FC Barcelona football player Gerard Pique, is also a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF. He will receive the award, called the Crystal Award, "in recognition of its commitment to the early development of children." This year will also receive this award very active German violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter, in music education, and American actor Forest Whitaker.
