In an interview he gave to Beats 1 Radio, The Weeknd offers multiple statements about their new album entitled "Starboy" among these, Abel Tesfaye details the process of working with rapper Kendrick Lamar in the song number 9 of the album, with the song called "Sidewalks" and this is what he said:
"He's a genius, is really a genius, [...] I do not know exactly what time of day, but arrived in the afternoon and went late at night, did there. I walked around the place. Reproduced the track again and again, I put some songs, the theme of Starboy, of course, which incorporated in his verse, and he just walked, you know, we had food, he writing his verse in his head. He checked his phone, looked a while, and put it back, and kept walking. At one point he went to the studio booth and closed the door and I could hear him shouting his verse in his head. I was really doing. You could tell he was putting all his part of the song. It was not just a verse from Kendrick Lamar random, was something special. Because, again, you know, I hate to say this all the time, but also we know for some time, and it is amazing how we started to connect on this issue. "
That's what The Weeknd said about working musically with Kendrick Lamar. Then you can enjoy the live performance of the song "Sidewalks" by The Weeknd along with Kendrick Lamar, which took place last December 17 in Los Angeles:
