Last Friday, November 18 occurred an event like no other: the Mexico City Philharmonic Orchestra performed the world premiere of the symphonic suite "Xpu Ha" (which means "Where is born the water" in Mayan language), at the Palace Fine Arts of the Aztec capital, and under the direction of Rodrigo Sierra; in homage to the Spanish guitarist Paco de Lucia, one of the greatest exponents of flamenco music.
It is a work built from the most emblematic pieces of Paco de Lucia, on the initiative of Miguel Angel Arenas, music producer and friend of the late guitarist. Composers Miguel Évora, Jesus Javier Losada worked Ball and music, orchestrated and developed a suite in three movements.
The first movement, inspired by Paco's father, there is a sort of dialogue between bass sounds of the bass and treble of violins.
In the second movement, the tribute is the mother, and this music is high energy, using the palms, the box and the close relationship between the country of origin, Spain, Mexico, the land where Lucia he lived the last 30 years of his life until he died in 2014.
The last movement is dedicated to the world, and somehow the subject of his most famous piece, "Entre dos aguas" constantly appears in the orchestral mass.
The interesting thing is that there are no guitars between the orchestra, because the idea, said the manager, was the virtuosity of Paco de Lucia was honored precisely without the instrument with which he expressed himself.
