The Chemical Brothers, British duo that has more than 20 years contributing to bringing electronics to popular culture, believes that this music is "a celebration of life and sound." "We visited The Treasury and other mythical Manchester clubs at least six nights a week. It was such a lively atmosphere, with everyone screaming and dancing everywhere ... It was a really memorable experience that influenced us a lot," recalls Ed Simons about the experiences that in 1992 put the pillars of his artistic association with Tom Rowlands. Initially baptized as The Dust Brothers (the coincidence with another band called just made them desist from using that name), soon they began to make their own remixes and in 1994 publish its first EP, "Fourteenth Century Sky", which would include his famous court, "Chemical Beats". " 'Big Beat' was the name coined to describe our music, but we did not choose. I think 'trip-hop' would have been a better combination, because our influences were then basically the 'acid house' and 'hip hop' "says Simons during a talk with Efe.
Among his favorite bands of this style, one specially surfaced: Public Enemy. "Probably our first records were owed much, for example in the tension of the rhythms and the explosion of sounds, but as we progressed, began to notice more influenced by New Order on the chords and the feeling of melancholy ", considers. Eight studio albums make a discography riddled with numbers 1 started with "Exit Planet Dust" (1995) and a compositional philosophy "that does not really distinguish between instruments, organic music and programming". In fact, as revealed, his partner used to spend hours searching chords on the guitar while watching TV. That does not mean, precise, consider simplicity as part of their DNA. "What characterizes us is the exploration of sound for the greatest possible impact, through layers and exploiting all resources and dynamic to our hand," says the author of hits like "Hey boy hey girl", "Do it again "or" Galvanize ".
"Born in the Echoes" (2015) is his latest album on the market, "with some of the best cuts of music club" they have ever done, he says, although there are critics who paradoxically considered somewhat "popero" print to which they have contributed collaborations glare from this area, such as Beck, St. Vincent and Cate Le Bon. It is the excuse that leads back to Spain, to play tomorrow in Barcelona, Madrid on Friday, Saturday in Barakaldo (north) and Monday in Santiago de Compostela (northwest). "The reaction of the Spanish public is always great. I think one of the first festivals where we played was in Benicàssim in 1996, and since then have visited the country very often. We like the spirit of party, getaway. Our only complaint is that at festivals always play very late, very late at least from the point of view of a British "jokes Simons.
