Gary Grice Alias The Genius GZA or just Gza, born on August 22, 1966 in NY. It is an American musician known for having founded the influential group Wu-Tang Clan. It is the most experienced member of the group older and starting rapping in the mid-70s. He recorded his debut album in 1990, before the Wu-Tang formed. Besides having appeared in all albums in the Clan, he has released five solo work, and participated, always with great level in several solo albums of his bandmates. Today we review his career by way of tribute on the occasion of his 50th birthday.

It all began in his youth, showing skills that innovative rap 1976, when the rap movement still remained as a sort of local phenomenon in the city of New York, shared his interest in hip-hop cousins Robert Diggs and Russell Jones (then known as RZA and Ol'dirty Bastard). The three together formed the group "All in Together Now" with GZA The Genius under the alias, in 1991.

After obtaining recognition of underground level with the group, GZA and Diggs (RZA, Prince Rakeem back then) were launched solo. GZA signed with legendary hip-hop label Cold Chillin 'Records. In 1990 GZA released his first album "Words From The Genius" under the production of the New Yorker known for his Jazzrap style, although relatively funky in this debut, Easy Mo Bee.

Wu-Tang debuted in 1993 with the album Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) , completely controls RZA. The Genius participates in several tracks on the album, and was one of only two members of the Clan (like Method Man) to have a solo track with his "Clan In Da Front". The album was seen by critics as a masterpiece, one of the best album debuts in the history of music in general and GZA was considered by most as the best lyricist of the group. Based on the excellent reception, GZA signed with Geffen and released in 1995 Liquid Swords . This album was also produced by RZA, and had several members as collaborators. It was praised by critics as a classic hip-hop from the East coast, and went platinum (1 million units in sales) by the RIAA. In 1998 the album was voted one of the top 100 albums of hip-hop of all time, with 4 clips, plus all led by the same Genius, leaving him as one of the main representatives of the scene, with thirsty crowds of more material .

From there simply is about history, GZA became one of the best lyricists of the genre, highlighting not only the Wu mythical tang for his technique, but even to get the second place in the list of a study by the American researcher Matt Daniels comparing the rhetorical resources and language skills of rappers with classic Shakespeare or Moby Dick, which have 5200 different words, while nearly reaching GZA 6000.

In short, The Genius is a complete artist and it ( a lot) worth taking a good look at the trajectory of his career, highlighting especially some work as classic and serious Liquid Swords, or perhaps the dark Grandmasters: Dj Muggs vs GZA ( '' grandmasters '' refers to high - ranking chess players qualifying)   his Long Play fully realized in collaboration with the leading producer DJ Muggs of Cypress Hill in 2005, thanks Gary Grice.

Genius GZA Happy Birthday!
