Venezuelan pianist Clara Rodriguez gave a concert in tribute to composer Antonio Estévez, on the centenary of his birth.
The event took place on Sunday August 7 in the room Jose Felix Ribas of the Teresa Carreno Theater in Caracas; with the participation of musicians Federico Ruiz (accordion), Miguel Delgado Estévez (guitar) and Eduardo Ramirez (four).
It was a special and emotional meeting for several reasons. First, the variety of works that were shown: a first part with works for piano solo, "solemn Portrait of Aldemaro Romero" by Juan Carlos Nunez, "Three Preludes" by George Gershwin, two works world premiere of Venezuelan Adrian Suarez, "Estela No. 4" and "The mandolin of Cochécoto"; "Meeting of Antony and Florentino" Federico Ruiz, and "Three Argentine Dances" by Alberto Ginastera (Argentine composer who also celebrates the centenary of his birth).
In this stage the concert we can mention two works that are portraits that makes a composer of another. Portrait of Aldemaro by Nunez, and a tribute to Ruiz Estevez. They are very interesting works because they are like "paintings" sound taking elements of musical language honoree author, but with the personality who has composed the piece.
Another detail to note is the premiere of works: is always welcome enrichment of the repertoire, and above all, listen new works, know what they are doing composers of the century, and as well said Clara herself during the concert, are works that border on the mystical.
Then in the second part, Clara played the beautiful "17 children piano pieces" Estevez, and for this, the nephew of the composer, Raul Estevez Delgado, told the headings. There are a number of beautiful pieces, very pianistic and virtuous, while descriptive of situations that inspired them. Obvious that these pieces being so beautiful and so exact in their musicality, have not enjoyed animation: if Estevez had met Walt Disney, certainly "Fantasy" would have had another turn.
The concert continued in a third party with the participation of the aforementioned musicians, who performed with pianist "Mañanita Pueblerina" Inocente Carreño (recently deceased composer), "Odeon" by Ernesto Nazareth, "Alfonsina and the sea" Ariel Ramirez a "Valse" by Federico Ruiz for theatrical versions of the novels "Dead Houses" and "Office No. 1" Miguel Otero Silva, and "Apure on a trip" Genaro Prieto.
It was an emotional meeting, a family party to packed houses, much celebrated both the musicians and the audience.
