Pop star Rihanna canceled a scheduled concert in Nice on Friday after a man with a truck ran over a crowd on Bastille Day in the coastal city of southern France, killing at least 84 people.
"Because of the tragic events (...) my concert (...) will not be realized as planned," Rihanna wrote on Instagram. "Our thoughts are with the victims and their families," he added.
The Nice Jazz Festival, beginning on Saturday, also was canceled, according to an announcement posted on the website.
The production of the sequel to the film "Fifty Shades of Grey" is currently underway in southern France and producer Dana Brunetti wrote on Facebook: "The whereabouts of all is known and all are well (...) Another sad day for France and the world".
The singer Cyndi Lauper also use social networks to express their condolences and repudiation of terrorists after the fact.
