When I first heard the music of Erik Satie I thought – well there is something I could listen to for weeks. And I did. But, when I heard Jacques Loussier ‘s rendition of his compositions, it was a true revelation. I could even imagine these two geniuses from different eras jamming together. Although Loussier is more famous with the jazz remakes he made on Bach, this is my number one choice from his catalogue. While still keeping the silence and finesse of Satie’s music, Loussier managed to make it vibrant and exciting. Not to mention the beautiful support from his rhythm section – a true interplay of souls. This is a kind of music that could be listened thousands of times and never step into the realms of boredom.
