I am pleased to share with you guys this spectacular band and their new single release!
It is the "Vasil Hadzimanov Band". This band comes from Serbia. They have their unique sound which is a combination or mix of Balkan traditional, folk music elements (rhythms and melodies) with the western, modern musical styles (funk, jazz, world music). This is a completely new and authentic approach to jazz music and to fusion. The main role has Vasil Hadzimanov that I must say all thanks goes for him (of course huge thanks and regards to the other members of the band too), the main creator of these ideas. The band is formed back in 1995.
They released their first CD in 2001. The first edition sold out in just three months! For this album they won an award for the Best Debut Album of the Year. They have 5 albums in total.
The track that I chose to write about is called "Reach out". Another magnificent blend of Balkan folk elements and jazz with English lyrics! This song is composed and arranged by Vasil Hadžimanov. This is a song that Vasil specially composed for the 70th anniversary of the United Nations. On Vocals are Vukasin Markovic (he is a frontman of the band Irie FM) and his one and only daughter Marta Hadzimanov! I mean wow, I am totally blown away from the talent, the beauty and capability of her voice she has on just 15! This track is written for the Planet, it says that “Now is the time to change our ways” so every one of us can “Reach out to the world around himself”! “We make our fate, it's not too late, and “today we write our future history”!
If I am asked to point anything that I don’t like there wouldn’t be such a thing. I really like the lyrics too, really honest and meanful with tendency for awaking the human spirit and to question yourself about your life and decisions, all that supported with this beautiful harmony and music, could not be better right? After all “Now is the time to change our ways (for a better world)”!
