Indie Rock for the 21st Century

Irish band Walking on Cars is the band I have been waiting for. First of all, the music talent runs through their veins. Without any pretentious desire to be successful, Walking on Cars runs on inner synergy. Each member knows exactly what he is doing and he is doing it brilliantly.

Further on, the energy on their debut Everything This Way is so contagious that it provokes a question – Where did you gain that strength of expression  and presentation? I fell in love with the sound and the style, different from a dominant indie matrix. Walking on Cars is a true alternative rock for the 21st century. Without compromise, they are walking on cars.

The first time I have heard about them was in 2012 when they have won Red Bull Bedroom Jam in Ireland. Their first single Catch Me If You Can was one of my favorite tunes at the time. After two EPs, the time has come for the album. Everything This Way is a miracle of alternative rock, no doubt about that. The sound is innovative. I have listened to so many band that reinterpret each other, but not this one. This is a pure talent and authentic knowledge. Their aspiration is to make their own unique music. I appreciate every single track on the record. Each one of them contributes to the whole album.

From the opening Catch Me If You Can to the last track As We Fly South, you can  hear powerful numbers with fabulous vocal, subtle piano and awesome guitars. Speeding Cars is my favorite track. Great energy, great vocal, amazing rhythm and the sound that just makes you fall in love with the band.

Ship Goes Down is so simple and catchy, while Don’t Mind Me is a soft piano ballade. Always Be With You, Flying High Falling Low and Hand In Hand are also slow-tempo tracks.

It’s been a long time since I have heard an album that is so well balanced between ballades and energy rock sound. Never too extreme. I am expecting more great things from Walking on Cars and so should you.
