Ok, so I was listening to Apple music a week or so ago, and this artist came on, his name was Desiigner. It was an underground spotlight so, like others, I thought his song would simply slip under the radar, completely unnoticed. However, I stayed tuned in and listened intently. What I heard, well, I didn’t want to like it, I wanted to in fact dislike it, but I couldn’t. When the Dj introduced Desiigner, he said that he was heavily influenced by Future, and I really didn’t know what to expect. Well, I guess Desiigner really does love Future because the guy sounds just like him. Maybe that’s why I didn’t want to like it, because to me, “mumble” rap isn’t “good” rap, but Desiigner proved me wrong.
Style, when it comes to music, is different for every artist. With Desiigner, he really shares almost the same style with fellow rapper, Future. Mumble rap is on the come up, and personally I’m not too fond of it. However, Desiigner really did a great job in putting this piece together. I’m not saying the song is superb, it’s just simply, good. But for a small, unknown rapper like Desiigner to have a song blow up is great for his music career. It may be one song but this really is blowing up his reputation, now he has interviews, more fans, and even simply a reputation.
Panda, it’s reiterated over and over in the song, and yes, it does get repetitious quickly, but there are parts that have me hooked. Sometimes it’s just because I can’t really understand everything Desiigner is saying, so I keen in to try and better grasp the words. Do I like doing this? No, but for some reason, like I said, the song is just catchy. I’ve had it stuck in my head all day and I cannot get it out for the life of me. This is good though, not for me, but for Desiigner. If he can get Panda stuck in my anti “mumble” rapping head, then it’s definitely stuck in plenty of pro “mumble” rap heads’.
Like I said earlier, the song isn’t perfect, it’s pretty good, but if you like Future then you’ll probably enjoy this song. I’m eager to see where the Brooklyn rapper goes with his career next, hopefully he’ll move up in the ranks, and maybe even work with someone like Future.
