Drake has always been the most influential rapper to me, from when I first heard "Best I Ever Had" on the radio, to listening to him and Future rap together, I could't be more proud to call myself a Drake fan. Just take a look at Kanye and his influence on millions, he can basically tell his fans to go out to the super market and buy a peach because he thinks it’s cool and bam, a million people now own a peach. For Drake, I feel his loyal fans are quite different. We aren’t about to go to the extremes in which some Kanye fans have for simple things like clothing. Drake, I feel, is more dominant in the rap game over Kanye because of the fact that he is simply more open. Drake knows that his shoes and clothes are loved and hyped up, but he doesn’t sit there and make a sweatshirt cost $2,000. Instead, Drake is able to establish a greater connection with his fans through cheaper merchandising and endless amounts of music.
Drake has been on the come up ever since his first album, and just in the past year and a half Drake has absolutely dominated the music industry. He has been able to drop two mixtapes, one of which was a collaboration with Future, and still have time to release diss tracks against his growing enemy, Meek Mill. And I truly feel sorry for Meek Mill, never once did I think he was a good rapper, however for him to call out Drake, a rapper who really helped him get his start, was definitely a wrong move. Song after song, album after album it seems as though Drake just cannot be stopped. Drake is a powerful force; he sells clothes, makes music, and is even still seen on tv. His global force is bigger then any other rapper in the game period. Whether you like him or not, Aubrey is not going anywhere anytime soon.
“Took a break from views now it’s back to that.” Views From the 6 is reportedly in the works and it’s been rumored to possibly drop in January. However, all I know is that whenever it drops, people everywhere who love music just as much as us will go insane. Drake has talent, this is evident as the past year has been nothing but great for Drake. He has the ability to rap about anything he wants and make it sound good. The man could write about dirty lettuce but if he made it sound good it’d be the next top song. This all comes back to his influence and relation with his fans, because it is so great, the moves Drake will make are already pre determined by his fans. Drake has been nothing but good to us, and if he keeps it up, I wouldn’t be surprised if 2016 is a better year for Drake and his fans than ever before.
