Keith Green’s Christian Music Career

Keith Green is one of those timeless Christian artists that has helped so many solidify their walk with Jesus Christ. “Your Love Broke Through” is such a powerful demonstration of a hard heart that was softened by his powerful lyrics and his skills at playing the piano combined with his voice. A lot of his music is of the late seventies and possible early eighties vibe.

The live video that CBN did is so awesome! It is a piano-riven track that is flashy for the cameras. It is a testament in the Gospel of Christ which is essential in this day and age. I could testify to this that Christ’s love has to get through to me to be cleansed from all my sins. His love has to break through in order for the new birth to help us. This is what this song does is tell those who listen that it is possible to hope in Jesus.  This is the essence of his lyric. The song goes into a grand story about just how lost the singer was before Christ’s love penetrated  his heart. Love breaking through causes a love for God and therefore a further belief for love will grow in the person who believes. Not only is the lyric great and inspiring for all to come to Christ but the melody on the piano is expertly played. We are all called to be skillful when we play and especially when we play for the Lord. Green has done this in the song and from the discography that this reviewer has seen is fabulous. I’m sorry to find out that Green tragically died in a plane crash in 1983.

His posthumous efforts (albums and singles) are great as well. They themselves give us the ultimate glimpse into the singer’s life and ministry. For instance, he had some houses where he would take in people who were homeless, lost and had other things wrong in their life.

Knowing this about his life makes the song all the more endearing to his audience. The song continues to sing that love came through, your love broke through. We are under God’s law of love. This is what the song hints at more than plenty of times. It is interesting to note the seventies sound that is so prevalent.  I’ve been so blessed by learning of this artist and his ministry.
