“You Are Holy” by Elevation Worship

When I feel like I’ve lost my way, a good song to play is “You Are Holy” by Elevation Worship. They tend to be one of the better worship groups in the modern worship movement. It is a simple song that reminds God that He alone is worthy to be worshipped. So much of life can get in the way and we need some time for the soul to be in the presence of the Lord. There are many times when I feel like I am always on the losing end. You may feel like this too, but God is Holy—even when we aren’t holy. While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. He is Holy.

The song starts off with the simple yet beautiful pads with the electric guitar. A simple vocal line is followed by this cascading downward in certain shapes and textures. The featuring chorus is just simple and beautiful. I would say that this whole piece is a beautiful simple prayerful song.

It is definitely a song to sing to and raise your voice to God and let your voice be heard. It is one of those songs that say that the Lord is worthy of all praise. We are just clay for the Holy potter. This is one of the better songs by this group. I love this song. Other songs where the drumbeat is predominant is a little much. This song is beautiful and quaint. It is one of the songs that I would use in contemporary worship. I can’t  think of a better song right now than this that ever goes back to the theological or even the soul-winning quality of the psalms. We want good music to give our best to the listener—Give our best to God. I give this five stars.
