I have to take a minute to write about Jeremy Camp. I first heard of him in worship services that I attend at my church regularly. The song that sticks out most to the mind is “Jesus Saves.” It is a rather refreshing (sort of) rock and roll song that takes on a Christian vibe. It is proclaiming that Jesus is here and is ready and willing to save anyone who is willing to take up their cross, deny themselves and follow Him. It is reported in the song that this is good news. The best advice when listening to this music is to just take a minute to take a few deep breaths and listen to the massage. It’s like the song is saying, “Don’t you want to be saved? Don’t you know that there is good news to all those who delight themselves in God’s will and grace?” It smacks the sin right out of you.
It makes one see the light at the end of the tunnel. It is perfect for rather charismatic churches to get your blood pumping and to set the record straight. As the chorus of the song says, “Sing it out. Let all the world know that Jesus saves.” If we are to be Christians, let us do just that! We are called to preach the gospel to all people of the world.
Hope is here. Spread the news to everyone. A new day has come. Look out for that sunrise that is Jesus. He will help us put down our idols and trust Him anew. Jeremy Camp is one of the many new Contemporary Christian singers who is helping us do just that.
