INC. NO WORLD

With their new EP, brother duo from California, Andrew and Daniel Aged confirmed that they are top-notch neo-soul act of the modern days. Their version of soul music, charged with funk and r&b influences, successfully combines retro and modern. It is less relying on electronic and synth tones, letting real instruments fly freely.

Still, in their attempt to emphasize idiosyncratic touch, they have made a decision to make the sound less full. The album is bursting from minimalistic sections that contribute to calm and spiritual atmosphere. One of the most interesting moments is instrumental composition Sent that captivates with its naturality and playful saxophone and brings some mountain landscapes to mind. Title tracks find its subtle way to get under your skin, while the song that closes this release, Comprise, proves talent of this boys with complex arrangements and melodic virtuosity. Personally, I think Living is a true summer discovery.

FRABIN

Multi instrumentalist and author Victor Fabri, also known as Frabin, released the new EP this summer and it is equally exciting as his 2015 debut Real. It's as If psychedelic rock, dreampop and shoegaze had a baby, or If Slowdive, The Strokes and Real Estate were album's fathers. The album opens with Public Loveliness that flirts with 80s pop, while following Habits is a midtempo number that does not reach its climax before the chorus comes. In my humble opinion, the best track of the record is Dramy State, a psychedelic jam interplaying piano and guitars with Fabri's specific vocal. His impressive voice is the real superstar in melodic Back Together that closes Nope. All my recommendations go to this Brazilian guy. You won't regret streaming his EP.
