Here is yet another track that came out in 2016 but seems to be gaining ground in 2017. Conrad by SOHN has such a smooth beat that it's hard not to want to listen over and over. Which usually means someone has to tell you to stop replaying the song because of they, in turn, are sick of hearing it.
SOHN is the musician name for Christopher Michael Taylor who is the creator behind a collection of electronic, indie, slight hip-hop influenced albums. Take the track Conrad which carries a slight hip-hop progression yet Taylor runs with an electronic synth possibly pushing boundaries by mixing two varied styles. Yet, there is a clear distinctive quality, a signature sound Taylor has established. Similar to how Justin Timberlake song comes on the radio, without a doubt you already know who it is. Taylor is traveling along the same idealistic musical highway. Although Taylor is working with a more ambient sound than many musicians today. Allowing the musician to stand out amongst the crowd for all the right reasons.
A lyric video was released for Conrad, offering an easy listening experience and Conrad may not need an actual music video. Honestly, the track speaks loud enough to provide the listener a quality experience without visual stimulation. Maybe because of the 1-2 step count that actually goes quite well with the beat, easy to move to and essentially enjoyable.
Taylor uses a production style where an offering of quality tones comes handy. Somehow illustrating a quaint transference of weaving loops and what sounds like drumsticks slapping together and a single solid kick drum. Conrad flows underneath the surface of organic appeal and electronic sensitivity.
Taylor strikes a true balance with Conrad, nothing can alter or take away from the pure magic crafted in production.
