Halsey's Colors has the Most Intriguing Music Video Ever

I just wanted to talk about my new favorite artist. Halsey will be known mostly because of her part of the hit single Closer by the Chainsmokers but her own style of music is so far from what you’d expect. She’d usually tackle taboo issues but this article is about my favorite one.

Colors has an amazing soundtrack by itself, the lyrics pull you in one by one. It just really tugs something different inside me. Halsey explained the song to be about the colorful relationship slowly start to fade. Watching your loved one fall to something negative and slowly watching your love saturate into a black and white portrait. But we’re here to talk about the story of the music video.

The music video was directed by Tim Mattia and features Halsey herself and Teen Wolf star Tyler Lee Hoechlin. I love the aesthetic of the everything being white because the simple colors that are also mentioned in the lyrics are emphasized. The video starts with Halsey taking pictures at a tennis game of her mother, Tyler, and Tyler’s dad (the tennis coach). Half-way in, there is foreshadowing of Tyler and Halsey being in love with each other but never directly stated. It is also clearly stated that her mother is flirting with Tyler’s dad. But when the video hits the 3-minute mark, things start to go downhill and the ending is something you’d never expect. Tyler catches Halsey with all of the photographs she’s taken and guess what? They’re all of Tyler’s dad. Tyler is enraged and Halsey is embarrassed by this revelation.

After watching the music video, I had my mouth hanging. I am a sucker for plot twists and this one was definitely one of my favorites. You can watch the video yourself below:

Some honorable mentions on Halsey’s amazing music videos are Ghost which will fill your lesbian fantasies and New Americana which breaks stereotypes and the bandwagon effect. Make sure to leave a comment down below and tell me what you think about this masterpiece!
