After several months of blogging, I thought it was high time to introduce you to how unpredictable my music taste can be. Just when you thought you had me all figured out as a mainstream pop girl, I will go and introduce you to Lolawolf.Lolawolf is a duo that consists of Jimmy Giannopoulos and Zoe Kravitz (yes, model, and daughter of Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet) and yes, they do make electro music, which you know I have a weak for, but it’s more experimental (read less commercial) than you would expect me to like.Even though Lolawolf have been performing, there hasn’t been any new releases since last year. Perhaps that’s because of their touring schedule though. They are one of those acts that always seems to be in demand at the coolest festivals.But now they have released a new song and their latest collaboration is with none other than Miley Cyrus.Together, they have recorded a great track called “Teardrop”. The song is a ballad with lots of harmonies in the vocals. It’s kind of a mix of Lorde’s singing meets Massive Attack’s music. The singing you hear on the track is Zoe’s and the spoken bit is Miley, who’s no stranger to being experimental and also has a great feel for not pushing the borders so far out there, musically that is, that it still appeals to many people. This is exactly what this song is, too.The two had already worked together in 2014, when Miley appeared in the Lolawolf video for “Bitch”. Lolawolf have a habit of getting big names do cameos in their videos. A$AP Rocky appeared in their “Jimmy Franco” video of the same year.It’ll be interesting to see if another EP is coming out from them or a follow up to their 2014 full album “Calm Down”.
