Usher pushes his vocals to the limits on his new song “Crash”. Opening the song in falsetto.
He released the audio for this on YouTube a few days ago.
The song is a mid tempo electronic track, which other press has labeled “soul baring”. It’s honest in its lyrics, that’s true. It’s also pleasing to the ears and surprisingly laid back compared to some of the dance tracks he’s been releasing lately.
In the summer, his new album is expected, which is called “Flawed”. The title seems to hint to more honest confessions, returning to the days, he used his albums to work through a few things.
On a personal level, I would imagine that his life is finally settled again. He’s married and one would hope that leaves you a lot less to work through (or…)
You can tell he’s maturing, in recent years. The chosen topics for his songs are going beyond the beautiful girl in the club theme. In particular, I’m thinking of “Chains”, which still has its effect on me.
Whether the new album will contain more surprises like that, is unknown. So far, he released “No Limit” on Tidal, earlier this week, and performed two other song at a party on New Year’s Eve, “Cards” and “Hard To Love”. His last album was 4 years ago.
He’s rumoured to have worked with Keri Hilson and Future for his new album.
