I Will, I Swear is a Belgian ambient duo that consists of multi-instrumentalist Jonathan Van Landeghem and vocalist Fien Deman. Their musical output exquisitely fleshes out the emotional registers of young adulthood into atmospheric, minimalist, intimate and powerful songs. "Long Days" is a track from their debut EP, which Acid Stag describes as "incredibly delicate, drenched in gloom and laced with vocals that will leave you speechless".
Deman's melancholic vocals, which ache with longing on "Long Days", are certainly breathtaking, etching out the promises and doubts of an intense youthful attraction that makes time and other worldly activities slow down:
'When I see your face When I hear your voice It seems like the world Stops spinning round Your embrace I finally found Peace in my mind Long days, short nights Heart rate, sky high Time flies'
There's an endearing and compelling naive romanticism on display ('Come to me/ You know what to do/ You say the things/ That I wanted to hear') - as well as a more mature scepticism ('But I'm not sure/ If you are what I need'). Against a delicate orchestral instrumentation, the convincing track ends with an image of the bodily and biological necessity of human connection:
'Can you hear that sound? It's the sound of my heart And it's beating just for you Hope you feel it too'.
