What a perfect time for a picnic, right?
Picnics are always great and appropriate if you know what to do. Picnics can be freaky, horrific, exciting and ritualistic. Picnics can change your life forever. Picnics can cause orgasm if you know what to do. If you have a perfect partner a picnic can turn into something truly unexpected. If you know what I mean.
I have found this album called “Pomme Ou Pas Pomme” by Devil’s Picnic recently. And this is like a draught of fresh water. The album was released in 1983 by Ding Dong Records and Tapes. And to me this modest release is something pure and really true. Minimalistic synth sounds which are appropriate anywhere – from a ritualistic orgy to your dog’s birthday. Horrific, monotonous and deep sounds get you deep into something wicked and meaningful. You want to love; you want to watch other people making love to each other; you want to go to a picnic and shoot a horror movie with sadistic witches making magical porno flicks.
Devil’s Picnic is a moniker of Manon Anne Gillis. She is a musician, composer and performer. “Pomme Ou Pas Pomme” was the only occasion when she used Devil’s Picnic moniker. Anne’s music is minimalistic, deep and monotonous. These are the loops which make you see and feel things. She uses her electronic music passages during the performances.
“Pomme Ou Pas Pomme” – is to be listened to for a few times on and on. That’s the way of acceptance of this excellent music and atmosphere. You have to be imaginative and opened to experiments. And perhaps you’ll touch the synth sounds of Devil’s Picnic one day. You will see the images you don’t want to forget. Find this album.
