Hayley Williams, vocalist of that roaring rock band Paramore with her ever flaming head was always a headturner not only by her looks but also because of her powerful voice which can be best heard when complemented by strong beats of the drums, the low moans of bass guitars and the screaming of the guitar. Paramore has gone a long way into the music industry and Hayley has gone a longer way for she surprised the world by being the voice accompaniment in Zedd’s song “Stay The Night”, an electronic pop song which I think is far from what Hayley is used to singing to.
This song is oozing with electronic sounds which is a cool way of showcasing Hayley’s vocal prowess. Normally, when I hear a Paramore song I would stand up and do a thousand headbangs but this song gives me a dancey vibe and I cannot help but move my body and not only my head. Her voice is also emphasized because the background music is not that overpowering as it is in her band. Nevertheless, the entirety of the song is just filled with passion because it talks about the urge of “staying the night” with another person which you know is a bad, bad, idea.
The lyrics of the song tells about the feeling people get when they are in the verge of giving in to their desires even though they know the consequences that await them after their short and small act of guilty pleasure.
“I am a fire. You’re gasoline. Come pour yourself all over me. We’ll let this place go down in flames”
This line must be my favourite among all the lines because the metaphors used is just way too perfect to describe a sudden ignition or a spark which could end up in flaming destruction, a beautiful kind of disaster. They both know that it is not a good thing to give in to a night’s temptation but they still continue to let their bodies do the talking and not care about other background noises anymore.
“I know that we were made to break. So what? I don’t mind”
Here is another set of words which clearly states the whole idea of the song. Staying the night means being reckless and being rebellious without having a care in the world.
All you two can see are the both of you fuelling the flame and bathing in its embers and ashes. And you are happy. For a night. (Make this as background music. Kidding.)
