Bunny And The Multiple Personality Disorder

Prince was maybe the first artist who had a tendency to change his name with every album. It’s been four years since this creative and authentic artist has released his last album. Then, The Electric Horseman was his crew. Now, it’s The Invalid Singers (even though he made almost everything on his own).

Except for this innovation in the name of his associates (he probably just changed the machine, ergo, the name of the band), not much is different because Bunny & The Invalid Singers are walking down the roads of experimental electronic music that is often ambient and pastoral. It served me very well after the weekend full of hard afters.

Contrary to his previous album, this record does not have any commercial pieces that could become hit singles. Tracks are pretty complex and detail oriented. Of course, there is a lot of rock elements but the majority of the album makes your synapses think about the land of dreams.

There are almost no vocals but when the vocal appears, it sounds magical, like fairytale in which Bjork and Sigur Ros are the main protagonists. Most of the album is based on instrumentals and that is Bunny’s forte. With his imaginative technique, he knows how to turn his vision into claustrophobic motifs but there is always a spark of optimism in tracks played by electric guitars. This is definitely an album for highly critical audience who doesn’t want some catchy summer hits. On the other hand, this is synth pop swiped through trip-hop, experimental and ambient music. If Bjork released this album, many would praise it as a master piece.

I must emphasize that this album has amazing dynamic. It starts with noisy themes but as the album moves forward, you get peaceful melodies. Overall, this is a confirmation of Bunny’s creativity so I am really looking forward to the next big thing to come out of his electronic factory. Bunny is not Bjork and it is difficult to expect he will ever become Bjork, but it is nice to see how alternative still exists somewhere out there. The only criticism I have for Bunny & The Invalid Singers is that the previous album was even better.
