American Kid'sby country music singer, Kenny Chesney continues to be riding strong in this year's Top 40 Country Charts-

Since 2014, when it was released, American Kids has done very well on the charts, reaching no 1 on the Digital Country Songs Charts, and also peaked at number 2 on the Hot Country Song Chart across the United States.

The song was written by Rodney Clawson, Luke Laird, and Shane McAnally and released in June of 2014. with being the lead single from “The Big Revival“ album. Chesney heard the tune during a writer's retreat with McAnally. He shares, “It was unlike anything I'd ever hear, it just grabs and holds on, but even more importantly if feels really good. There is so much more to being alive than partying, tailgates, and bonfires,-American kids are so much more complicated , more fun, more real."

The video is shot in vintage sepia with a montage of an eclectic group of men , women, children all singing, partying and just having a great time.  The vibe is  totally reminiscent of 1960's, with the motley group riding around on a hippy-ish bus painted in vibrant, Peter Max  style colors and shapes. It truly looks like a  VW van  as it rambles across the plains -Giving the viewers the impression of watching a bunch of musicians heading to a Woodstock music festival or Burning Man!

The music video was directed by Shaun Silva and released in June of 2014. It highlights Kenny playing guitar and partying on the bus with everyone. It's joyous, fun, and upbeat, and I truly got a kick out of the acoustic ending of the video which captures this fun loving, good looking  group of people singing, and goofing around on the bus-singing accapella style just  for the heck of it.

The lyrics give us a  glimpse of what it is like growing up as an American Kid in the heartland.

We were teenage dreamin’, front seat leanin

’Baby, come give me a kiss

Put me on the cover of the Rolling Stone

Uptown down home American kids

Growin’ up in little pink houses

Makin’ out on living room couches

Blowin’ that smoke on a Saturday night

A little messed up, but we’re all alright
