Australian Country music singer, Keith Urban hits the number one slot on the Billboard Hot Country CHarts with his single, Blue Ain't Your Color. This tune literally paints a vivid picture, though in the video it's not shot in color, but with a vintage, black and white hue, revealing a sad woman, alone at a bar, and seemingly going through the midst of a bad relationship.
As an utter fan of Keith Urban, I adore the imagry and tone that these lyrics portray. Here is a snippet from the refrain:
Blue, Looks good on the Sky,
Looks good on that neon buzzin on the wall
but Darling, it dont match your eyes,
You don't need that guy,
It's so black and white,
He's stealin your thunder
Baby, Blue aint your color.
Within an interview for One Country Magazine, Urban shares " It's basically a waltz, with this kind of doo-wop theme to it, and neither felt right for me, but there was something in the song I sot of loved and I wanted to get to that." His vocal style has this warm, intimate texture that draws you in to both the lyrics and the melody, which is the perfect delivery, giving the listener a sense that Urban is singing /consoling a destraught woman in a lonely pub.
The song is performed by Urban and written by Steven Lee Olsen, Hillary Lindsey and CLint Lagerberg. Produced by Dann Huff. This hit single was released on August 8, 2016 as the fourth single from his ninth studio album, entitled, RipCord.
Blue Ain't Your Color is currently running at #1 on the Canadian Country Charts in addition to doing extremely well across the board in all top forty Country Charts throughout the United States.
Interesting note is that Urban has released a total of nine studio albums with 37 singles making it to the Top Forty Hot Country Songs in the USA, 18 of which scored the #1 slot.
Keith Urban is also known for his role as a coach on the Australian verison of "The Voice" singing competition show, and has also been a judge on American Idol. He is married to actress, Nicole Kidman, and in October of 2013, introduced his own line of guitars and accessories.
