Middle of a Memory, by Country singer Cole Swindell, depicts the heartbreak of a guy who meets a girl on a dance floor and then she is abruptly and reluctantly pulled away by her friends. The song ranked the top of the country charts for the first week of November 2016, with scoring the #1 slot. Swindell's single has beenholding strong, with an impressive 27 weeks on the charts, and recently moved up the charts from last week's ranking in which he held the #2 slot. The song debuted in May 2016 as the second single to his second studio album, You Should Be Here, and was written by Swindell, Zach Crowell, and Ashley Gorley. Middle of a Memory is actually Swindell's fifth number 1 hit.
The songs lyrics laments about how this unfortunate guy is left with a memory of a girl he just met who touches his life for only a few minutes, sharing an intimate time on the dance floor. During an interview about the inspiration of the song, Swindell states "It's about finding a girl out, having a couple of drinks, and feeling like you already knew each other."
The music video however, reveals what it would have been like if he would have had the opportunity to pursue the relationship getting to know the girl, and actually dating her, becoming a couple. Within the video we see a montage of "the happy couple" attending baseball games, shopping in a grocery store, attending a move, celebrating holidays, and birthdays as a loving couple. Though...interesting is that this memory starts to fall apart as we get a glimpse of this mystery girl driving down a country road in tears, a realization that maybe it would not have been such an ideal relationship after all.
