We haven’t heard a whole lot from “If You’re Going Through Hell” singer Rodney Atkins lately, but don’t be fooled, the artist is still hard at work and keeps up a heavy touring schedule. Atkins first rose to fame with his second studio record, If You’re Going Through Hell, in 2006. Its first two singles, “If You’re Going Through hell” and “Watching You”, each spent four weeks at the top of the country music charts. The album also produced four #1 singles in total, the two mentioned above, plus “These Are My People” and “Cleaning This Gun”. Atkins has garnered 6 #1’s in total, along with winning Top New Artist at the 2006 ACMs.
Atkins released his latest single, “Eat Sleep Love You Repeat” in 2014, along with a music video last September. The video is the first in an ongoing series following a love story that will take viewers for a twist and turn ride. The single, an upbeat tune about how natural the narrator’s ability to love his significant other comes, is from Atkins’ Greatest Hits album. “Eat Sleep Love You Repeat” finds the narrator declaring that loving his significant other comes naturally to him, it easily fits into his daily routine, like eating and sleeping. The video is only chapter one of a series, made clear by the opening “chapter one” right before the song cues up.
The sentiment of the song is sweet, cheery, and upbeat, yet the video is flavored with sorrow and regret, showing the main character going about his life while being haunted by a past relationship. The guy sees his past love everywhere, including riding shotgun in his truck. In the end, he finally decides to take action and win her back, which results in him crashing her wedding day. The video ends with the two staring at each other in the church and a “to be continued”. The video leaves viewers wondering what will happen next with the couple, and anticipating Rodney’s next single. Check it out below!
