Charles Kelley Goes Solo

Charles Kelley is one of the three vocalists in the group Lady Antebellum, but he now has had a solo album out for a couple of months. It’s called “The Driver.” It features Kelley, Dirks Bentley and  Eric Paslay.  The trio is in perfect harmony; in perfect form on the title track about being on a touring bus and being far from home—longing to be home. The tempo of the album switches with “Lonely Girl” which is an exquisite dance-like number that promises true love in a record for the lonely girl in life.

Other songs hint at the loss of love in life as many of the pop and country songs of the day already do.

Other songs include  his ode to his wife “The Only One Who Gets Me.” Many other men could probably get this as part of their relationship. The significant other in our lives knows us. It’s the perfect love setting song for those who need inspiration.

Other songs include more of the dance style songs like “Dancing Around It, which is kind of reminiscent of later Lady Antebellum records. “Round in Circles” is a great song about pursuit of a person or thing. What are you pursuing? As a whole, this album gives Kelley the light to work in his own style, which is utmost refreshing.
