Andrea Bocelli’s Christmas and Other Tracks Create a Benchmark for Vocalists

Andrei Bocelli is one of the most prominent modern opera singers in today’s repertoire. He sings right up there with the angels. He is in the league with the likes of Josh Groban and others. It is a great gift that he has that God has given to him. He won the world’s heart when he sang live at Night of The Proms, the famous Miserere. I found a Christmas carol recording of “Angels We have Heard On High.” The choir in the background with Bocelli’s voice singing a high G is very magical and just for the season. “The Prayer (Vivre)” in Italian is so beautiful and classic. It makes one wonder how the stamina of the voice continues to last through long periods of holding the notes. There is a collection here on Kurrent that has three Con Partite bonus tracks for choir and orchestra background that are fabulous tracks. Check them out!

Much of the music would remind me of being at some fancy restaurant listening to the sounds of an operatic voice, maybe an Italian restaurant eating some rigatoni or spaghetti. Either this or one could be sitting in a Barnes and Noble listening to the vocalists duking it out over the airwaves. The nice music with a good book is a great combination. I wonder how it would be to attend one of these concerts with Bocelli live. The recorded stuff is right up there with Pavarotti.

The whole set on the Kurrent Music catalog is just spellbinding. It would be great to have a full Christmas album with him singing tracks in English and Italian. It is a great notion.

Favorites on the Kurrent Music collection include the famous “Caruso,” covered by many different artists including Pavarotti. “Vivo Per Lei” is another favorite. His flowing vocals in the high tenor range is awesome. Take some time to listen to the set. Your ears will be pleasantly surprised.
