Celtic Thunder Packs a Punch!

This next group that I’m reviewing is so wonderful. They were first brought to me by another co-worker who saw them on a late night TV show. On first listen, they are absolutely divine. They are gorgeous in sound with a classical tenor flare and an electrified orchestral template that is above and beyond anything else I’ve heard in recent memory. They definitely have some decedent orchestrations that one would love to get their hands on. From the first number, it’s apparent that these guys are breath of fresh air. The spectacular harmony of their version of “Danny Boy” with the flowing tenor line on top is absolutely breathtaking. The rest of the songs are expertly produced and they are in top form.

My favorites are “Danny Boy,” their remake of “Mull of Kintyre,” originally written by Paul McCartney and Wings. A bone-chilling cover of “Amazing Grace” is good. It will bring you to your feet. I love their classic contemporary style incorporating their native (Irish) instruments with orchestra and drums. I love the absence of electric guitars. So much of music’s electrified by two or three electric guitars. It is soothing to be int he company of this extravagantly beautiful pop-contemporary arrangements. This is it! I encourage all to buy this Best of record. It is extraordinary.

The harmonies are fabulously put together. The cues all worked. Everything was like a switch. Sections of music go in and out with ease. It’s a composer and writer’s paradise. If you want to learn to orchestrate like these people, take a cue! These are artistic creations from pros.

Other compositions of note are “My Land” and the cover of “Hallelujah.” Both are such staples in the repertoire of music. Some tracks are interesting about adding new instruments like acoustic guitar and the banjo, especially on “A Place In The Choir.” I want a copy of the album now that it’s been thoroughly listened too.
