Mark Bowden is a very innovative composer who likes to improv with woodwind instruments. The only work that I could find so far is “Parable” which is for (seemingly) alto saxophone (or tenor sax). It is really chromatic and highly festive. It was sneaky in its delivery and has frequent changes of a sudden nature, which will catch audiences by surprise.

There appears to be a small orchestra in the background. There are varying soft shades of strings or some other orchestra instruments entering in and out. This would be a terrific idea if you wanted to compose and record with a solo instrument. Pick your instrument of choice and go at it. The time signature seemed to be all over the place, maybe 4/4 with a little 7/4 and some other time signatures thrown in the mix.

It is a rather short (only 6 minute) piece. It could use a little more material, but as a minimalist type piece, it holds up. I look forward to more from this composer.
