Gustavo Dudamel's Conducting and Energy

This conductor has to be one of the greatest modern conductors of our time. Known for his stunning interpretations of much of the famous classic music literature of all the different eras combined, he captures audiences by storm by immersing them in the music as he so often does. Some of my most favorite performance moments by Dudamel are his interpretations of the Mahler Symphonies (particularly symphonies 2 and 5). Every performance that he gives is special no matter if it’s one of the Star Wars themes or a big number like one of the latter half of Shostakovich symphonies. It is always a spectacle when he takes the stage either as conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic or at his post with the Simon Bolivar National Youth Orchestra.

Another great one to check out is the Danzon in A Minor of Arturo Marquez. Just to see the orchestra play and “dance” to the music that they’re making in this piece really can take one to a different place. Dudamel’s energy definitely is exuded and expended into his performances just because of the life that is echoed into the performances themselves. Dudamel—what a master.
