Hurt A Little While as Patty Griffin Makes It All Better

Patty Griffin may be deemed a well-known musician but actually, Griffin falls more towards the underground world of music. While everyone could probably pick her out of a crowd because of her flaming red hair, Griffin's vocals are the soul holy grail of grit, hurt and Blues mixed with a Country vibe. Although Griffin doesn't really fall under any true definition of a single genre.

'Hurt A Little While' beings playing in the perfect pitch based on the bridge and on down to the heartbroken lyrics. A Blues scale floats on in as if Griffin simply forgot that the microphone was left on to record. The intimacy is captured with a slight affliction pertaining to the vocals. As if Griffin is remembering a memory and placing in the hurt and retribution in through the song.

Never at any point during the song's four-minute duration does the listener become disengaged. Somehow 'Hurt A Little While' addresses issues everyone has gone through and now that hurt has become a past reflection. 'Hurt A Little While' is an infinite track which causes anyone listening to fall into the rhythm of the guitar and Griffin's voice. Matter of fact Griffin's voice can be heard as the beckon of reckoning, a reasonable consciousness when the lights go out at night.

Griffin has had many of her own songs covered by some of the today's greats. While Griffin may not receive the recognition truly deserved, many musicians today are sure to appreciate the talented singer-songwriter's contribution to music. We must respect the individuals who have fought hard and given us a piece of themselves throughout their musical career. And Griffin looks as if she is not stopping anytime soon. 'Servant of Love' was the latest album released in 2015, however, we can expect more to come from Ms. Griffin.
