Drive You Car With L.A. Witch

Once this L.A. noir-grunge psychedelic rock coutner culture took over in full force, it would only be a matter of time before picking favorites. With that in mind L.A. Witch have popped up throughout the last five years insisting the need to be listened too. Why did I object in the first place? So, yes, five years have passed but I am making up for lost listening time by starting with 'Drive Your Car'. After digging a little, coming across the L.A. Witch website expressed all that I needed to know. An essential all female band ready to summon devil's on the shoulder to introduce intriguing Pop melodies. A horror anthem ready to cross over to the likes of The Breeders, My Bloody Valentine and if Mazzy Star were a bit goth.

There is a type of lo-fi garage being produced with L.A. Witch that is slowly grazing by unnoticed. It might be because of the band's ability to hook in a line completely worthwhile. Speaking over and over the same lyric but in a different stance with another new meaning. Nothing quite comes home as personal with 'Drive your Car' but why should it?

Deep, drive, heavy, influenced and clearly on overdrive...L.A. Witch throttle back and forth without hestitating to stop and refuel the need to tighten strings. But there is no need to do so, stopping to over produce or polish up would ruin L.A. Witch. Whether you believe in the seedy underbelly of L.A. it goes without saying it exists. 'Drive your Car' easily fits in between hoodlum and voodoo chants. Then again maybe that is exactly what the band L.A. Witch want for their fans to hear. This tidal wave of psychedelic enterprise folded beneath the covers of dirty garage noise waiting and bubbling up from the underworld. Or in this case the streets of L.A.
