The Sounds Gives Us A Thrill

2016 may be the year of resurgence for certain bands, The Sounds certainly are one of those bands. While hot on the heels of a new United States tour by covering major ground, The Sounds have also released a single 'Thrill'.

After forming in 1999 The Sounds iconic vocalist Maja Ivarsson still holds a strong dictation. 'Thrill' demonstrates the powerhouse vocal ability to swirl the vibrating sonic formations that this Swedish band can muster. 'Thrill' does not feel like a throwback to a time before or even a nostalgic piece. The Sounds have produced a new formula, new basics and a hardened truth as they always have. By moving forward, contributing to the ever constant fast paced world of music...The Sounds are still relevant.

Whether the current events or personal events are fueling the lyrical content of 'Thrill'. It's hard not to imagine that the newest single sounds a bit political. However, if the song was written beforehand it seems that opposing views may have benefited to the writing process.

'Thrill' comes off as a wave of intention. Direct as a missile and forward thinking. Instead of The Sounds typically nearly over the top instrumental routine, the band feels more Post-Punk waiting at the edge...ready to take action. That is the whole feeling surrounding 'Thrill' is a ready to take action sequence. Whether 'Thrill' incites a type of power pump adrenaline or offers a series of questions we should ask ourselves seems all the more possible.

After 10 years of touring, albums and remaining a working band The Sounds deserve a medal. Some bands barely scrap by the 10 year mark without a few wounds. Yet with The Sounds battle scars are exactly what they aim for; showing off the underlying layer of tissue which is filled with anger, rage, passion, compassion and a thousand more emotions we can't wait to see from The Sounds with this new direction.
