Where It All Started

Now signed to one of the largest Christian labels in the country, Switchfoothad reach out to a wid  er audience. Their first two albums, The Legend of Chin and New Way to Be Human, were marketed almost exclusively toward Christian listeners, who took an immediate shine to the band's music. Their album ’sBreathe success, coupled with the band's presence on the hit soundtrack to the 2002 film A Walk to Remember, set Switchfoot up for a healthy major-label run.

Their song “Dare You to Move” was a complete success and it certainly put the band’s name into place. For despite being a Christian band, they have stimulated the liking of all other people in the world, including the non-christians for they have the universal power of touching the hearts of many. In the movie, the song was played right after Landon knew about Jaime’s condition and his soul was crushed beyond recovery. While this song was playing, Landon is seen speeding across highways with nowhere to go. The song adds to the feels of the movie and I wonderfully complimented the plot that people must not lose faith in something despite the trials. This tune calms our inner demons and lets us think that we are not just worthless individuals and the past does not define us but what we make of our past.

This song is so powerful. It will make the listeners want to go outside and make the world a better place. It will make them think off all the good things in life and turns down the violent rhythm of this harsh world.

I have also always related this song to a bad day. When I have had a hard day, I tend to want to lie in bed, and never leave that comfort. I found this song to be a challenge, to not let the toils and troubles of this world drag you down, but to keep going stronger than ever. "I dare you to lift yourself off of the floor" is a strong line for me- depression can bring you to the lowest depths of your feelings and emotions, and he's telling us that while it is ok to show sorrow, don't let it keep you where you are.

This to me is an encouraging song. It's basically saying that it's time for change, and you can either stay down, or pick yourself up and move like today never happened before.
