A pop rock group that was formed in the late '90s but was heavily influenced by the rock and soul of the 1970s, the New Radicals are the creation of singer/producer/songwriter Gregg Alexander. Alexander did all of the producing and arranging and most of the songwriting on the promising album, which was the group's sole release. After scoring the hit "You Get What You Give," he disbanded the New Radicals to focus on production work but the sound the band made did not stop at their disbandment because their hit “Someday We’ll Know” is still trendy nowadays - a song about “what ifs” and “what could happen,” but an upbeat one.
This song tells the listeners that just because two people fall in love does not mean they are meant for each other.
This tune reminds me of the power of a song and how it can impact you. The inevitable wondering of why some people are not right for each other even though there is or there was love between them. I think the part "Someday we'll know why I wasn't meant for you" is a rhetorical question he is asking her, because as far as he is concerned, there was no reason for them to break up in the first place. He is also trying to make a point that she has made a mistake of brushing him off, and follows this up by saying "Someday you'll know that I was the one for you". Either way this song is awesome, and unfortunately holds a close relation with a lot of people. “Two years later, you’re still on my mind,”the old problem of trying to get over somebody who meant more to you than anyone ever could, and still thinking about them months or years later. This song is saying that everything, including breakups, happens for a reason and that reason may not be discovered until a new relationship, or sometime even way later.
This song is just so touching! It might be about an ex or just someone you fell for so deeply but never actually materialized. It is so sad that it tears your heart up when you are so in love but completely aware that you are never going to work it out. You live with that weight over your shoulders; you never get completely over him or her. It is like this quote saying “I want to be with you. It’s as simple and complicated as that.”
