“Foltin” are one of the most exciting bands coming from Macedonia. Building their sound through all these years (from 1995 until present) and through many stage performances, they became a sought after act all across Europe and especially in the Balkans. Foltin’s music feels like a magical carousel through time, taking you on a ride that’s mystical and passionate at the same instant. Their latest release called “Pijan Slavej” (Drunk Nightingale) continues their exploration of music and wordplay, further developing their unique music language, which they shaped and perfected on the previous seven albums. Unpredictable arrangements, surreal and witty poetry, romance mixed with cynicism, contagious dance beats and pure, simple melodies over well constructed harmonies are few of the characteristics of this release.
Foltin were formed in 1995 in Bitola, Macedonia as an experimental group, closely connected with the local theater, enabling them to engage in writing music for theater plays and movies at an early stage of their career. It gave them an opportunity which they firmly grasped and have written dozens of soundtracks and played live theater shows all across Europe. That also gave the band a kind of a cabaret feeling on their live performances, acting on stage as much as playing. Their live acts are powerful and sometimes resemble rave parties, even in small clubs. Be sure you don’t miss them if you have an opportunity to attend one of their shows. Meanwhile, you can listen to “Pijan Slavej” and enjoy!
