How does your background play into this song?
Answer:

Anyone who has ever had to leave your loved ones to provide for them should relate to Elijah Blu. You want to stay home and play with the kids, but you have to go get more money. Also, when you look at how crazy the world is, you just pray they will grow up to be a good person. Too many traps in life they could fall into. When they are really young (Elijah Blu was 2 when I wrote this), you don't really know how they will turn out. Elijah did good! Hard worker, loving daddy. Now in his 20's, he has 2 beautiful girls. So I guess the prayerful tune worked!

If you could go on tour with any artist, who would it be and why?
Answer:

Chris Stapleton. Love everything the guy does.

What is your favorite song you have made, and why?
Answer:

Probably Elijah Blu. Brings back memories and even brings some in our family to tears when they hear it. Good ending though - Elijah is alive and really turned out well.

If you could attend a performance by any artist, dead or alive, who would you choose and why?
Answer:

I'd love to see Tom Petty again, or maybe Elvis.

What is the strangest place where you have discovered a new song?
Answer:

When I was a kid I was walking across a field on my way home from school, and found a 45 record of Buffalo Springfield - FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH. Had never heard of them, but I LOVED that song. Kind of a protest song. Maybe that is one reason I tend to protest injustice in many of my songs. That record I found in a field, really had a big impact on me. I try to let folks know that only GOD can fix all the problems, but you shouldn't be ignorant of Satan's methods. That he uses men and governments to fool people. Yes, there is a BIG STORM COMING - Check out that tune on Spotify, YouTube or wherever you consume music.

What is your earliest memory of listening to music?
Answer:

When I was little setting in my momma's lap. She knew all the words to songs, and could play the piano. Her family all had musical abilities. Her mom could smoke the piano and used to play in the movie theater for silent movies. The Brooks family in Western Kansas. Back then they had to entertain themselves cause there was not that much access to music. I remember Grandma telling me about when her family first got a radio. Like TV used to be, those stations would go off air at night.
