Palindrome860 Perspective on Home of the Brave?
All of my songs are basically broken into 3 categories. They're either memories, observations/opinions, or they're just me being outlandish and goofy. I've released songs about my Ma, my brothers, my father, my stepfather, my friends, politics, and my sweet, sweet finacee. On this particular song, I'm just trying to ask the questions that seem very obvious to me, but seem to not even register to others.
The first music I ever bought, I suppose. I remember spending my birthday money on a casstte box set of Elvis. The next time I bought music, it was a John Michael Mongomery CD. Shortly thereafter, I was listening to Sublime on a loop. I suppose those early influences are why I make music in such a wide variety of genres. I love song writers. I love stories.
I was writing silly poems for my fiancee, Jackie. I found an app that would make them into songs, using the poems as the lyrics. I loved listening to music about her. If I went to an area with no service, the app wouldn't play the music. I decided I'd put it onto Spotify so I could listen all the time.
Sublime. They've always been my favorite band. Seeing Jacob take over for Bradley after Rome held it together for so long with Eric Wilson is such a joy. Brad being back makes it so much better, too.
Toss up between Cash and the Beatles. I suppose that if I had to choose, it'd be the Fab Four. The most influential band in music history. Talent beyond words.
Eminem, Sublime, Garth Brooks. That would cover the genres I'd need to get through and it's a good enough sized library to not get old.
Literally anything. I just want them to feel what I'm saying. If that means it's a love song about Jackie, I hope they feel how great that love is. If it's a song about politics, I hope they feel my distaste for our very broken system.
Spotify is where I listen to music so, I guess that's my automatic pick.
I don't know anyone else (other than cover music) that releases every album while covering 4-5 genres each time.
Early and often, I'm taught and reminded that my music can only be for me. No matter how hard I try to make something that someone else will like, it's not the same. I create music that I love and just hope others enjoy it as well.
This is much cheaper than therapy.
I never thought I'd have 1000 monthly listeners so, the only goal I have left is to not stop.
