Sensr Perspective on Scent of Socu
My background has been a lot of improvising with past bands. One imparticular band we had very good jammy festival type music that would have blended in nicely with other jam bands. So I really enjoy a long solo or jam. I try to give my music room to breathe, and I don't over complicate it, although that is easy to do. My background for the past few years has been strict studying and improving on instruments so I feel I have come a long way in a short time. I just started releasing songs in May of 2025.
Scent of Socu quickly became a favorite of mine even though when I first started the song I was not sold on it.
I love to discover a simple but cool beat on the drums. That's what I did here. It's simple but effective.
Lately, I’ve been diving deeper into the more extraterrestrial and outer world side of my sound. I’ve always been fascinated by that kind of atmosphere — the unknown, the eerie beauty, and the sense of vastness that comes with imagining what’s beyond our world. I’ve been a huge fan of the Predator and Alien films for as long as I can remember — I still rewatch them today. There’s something about their worlds, the tension, the mystery, and the sound design that really sticks with me and inspires a lot of what I create.
My track Summer Soul was kind of a different vibe — more grounded, more human. It carried this warm, summer energy, like being on a beach somewhere with the sound of the waves mixing with a laid-back groove. I actually recorded that one using a two-mic setup on a Gretsch maple kit, which gave it a really raw and organic feel.
Now, I’m exploring sounds that stretch further — into the unknown, into space, into the strange and otherworldly. Those kinds of themes feel like a natural fit for where my music is heading. It’s all about creating sonic environments that feel like they exist beyond Earth, but still somehow connect back to something deeply human.
