Peter Saint Paul Perspective on Rivers in the Desert

One of the strangest and most memorable places Paul Peters has ever written a song wasn’t a place at all — it was in a dream. He woke up hearing a melody and lyrics that he believes God shared with him while he slept, and he captured them before they faded. That moment became one of his most personal songs and a powerful reminder of how his faith and music are intertwined.

“Rivers in the Desert” is a guitar-driven, anthemic track that blends classic rock energy with the heartfelt depth of worship. Infused with touches of country and the soulful, call-and-response of old spirituals, it sits firmly in the Christian Rock genre with a Worship Rock edge — faith-centered lyrics carried by a powerful, melodic sound.

At 13, inspired by Ian Anderson, Paul realized that girls didn’t really swoon for flute players but guitarists got the attention. He began carrying his guitar to school in eighth grade, hammering out a few choice riffs and discovering, with a laugh, that it worked. What started as a selfish motivation soon became something deeper — God’s hand was on Paul from the beginning, shaping his talent and heart so that the music he creates now under Peter Saint Paul reflects not only his classic rock roots but also his faith, hope, and calling.

Paul Peters first discovered the power of music at just three years old, captivated by the deep, story-driven voice of Johnny Cash. Later, he would sit transfixed as his father’s vinyl spun Jimi Hendrix, Jethro Tull, Led Zeppelin, The Moody Blues and Billy Joel, planting the seeds for his own blend of classic-rock textures and heartfelt expression.

"Rivers are flowin in the desert" refers to the passage in Isaiah 43:19 (KJV) – “Behold, I am doing a new thing;
now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”
That journey through his musical influnces and his belief in God’s promise — “Rivers in the Desert,” is an anthemic track where rock influences meet themes of fiath, victory and redemption, setting the tone for the music he now releases as Peter Saint Paul.

Paul Peters – Founder of Peter Saint Paul
Paul Peters, the founder, songwriter and musician behind the project Peter Saint Paul, grew up mesmerized by the spinning Atlantic Records logo on his father’s turntable, soaking in the sounds of Jethro Tull, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, and Pink Floyd. Those formative moments sparked a lifelong passion for music. He began playing the flute in fifth grade and picked up the guitar at twelve, laying the groundwork for his distinctive blend of rock energy and heartfelt expression.
Faith has always been a cornerstone of Paul’s life. Raised in the church and embracing his beliefs from an early age, his writing naturally weaves together classic rock influences with themes of hope, redemption, and worship.
After years away from writing, Paul reignited his creativity in 2023, composing a new body of songs that are now being released as singles under the Peter Saint Paul name. With renewed inspiration and a clear artistic vision, he is excited to share his music and move boldly into the next chapter of his journey.
