Who are you and what do you do?
Answer:

I'm the songwriter/musician/singer behind The Rising Shine Project, my name is Henry Stoll.  After decades of playing professionally, and putting out some great songs for people to enjoy, I decided it was time to put out the songs that I hadn't published yet!  Many of these sings have lived in my head for years and years, and sone are brand spanking new!  I am producing songs in multiple genres, intended for sale to other artists, and for placements in Movies. TV, Video Games and any other media.  Listen, Download and enjoy!

At what moment in your life did you decide to become an artist / performer?
Answer:

Probably when I was 6-7 years old, listening to my older cousin's records!  Thankfully they had good taste, so I grew up listening to Uriah Heep, Steppenwolf, BTO, Bad Company and others!  Of course as a youngster, I alos watch The Monkees and The Partridge Family!  I got bit, and never stopped scratching that itch!

What genres does this release play into?
Answer:

The beauty of The Rising Shine Project, is that there are no boundaries, limits or genres, that I am pigeon holed into!  MUSIC WITHOUT LIMITS!  As lons as it's good!

How does your background play into this song?
Answer:

My life experiences inform all of my writing, even when I'm writing about subjects that are foreign to me, because "the human experience" is universal!  Music is a unifying force!

How has your sound and style evolved in the last 3 years?
Answer:

I truly belive that there are only two states of being, GROWING or DYING!  I choose growing!  My musical tastes and knowledge is something I nourish and put a lot of effort into!  I'm a better musician, because I work to be a better human being!

What themes do you explore throughout your music?
Answer:

The common human experience!  We all have way more in common than we have differences!  Common threads you will hear are: Belief in yourself, willingness ro take chances, realizing that love and family are the two greatest gifts God ever gave us. and living with truth and honor as your guide.

How would you describe your favorite artist's music to someone who has never heard them before?
Answer:

HONEST!  Emotional honesty is everything to me!  I love artists who can share the full scope of their feelings and emotions.  I hate "one horse cowboys", No one is MAD ALL THE TIME!  And I don't want to hear a dozen songs about: your truck, your girlfriend, your job, your ..... anything!  Let's have a little variety!

I love writers and artists who are willing to share their failures as well as their triumphs!  Bear your soul to me, and I'm in!

How would you describe your music to someone who has never heard it before?
Answer:

Honest portrayals of life, love, loss, and victory.  A smorgasbord of flavors!

If you could attend a performance by any artist, dead or alive, who would you choose and why?
Answer:

Thin Lizzy with Phil, Brian, Scott and Robbo.  The best all around rock band ever in my opinion!  Charisma so powerful it would make Elvis blush!

What is your favorite song you have made, and why?
Answer:

That's like picking a favprite child!  I cannot answer that!

What do you want people to feel when they listen to your music?
Answer:

Connected and understood!  Encouraged!  Happy!

What is the most memorable response you've had to your work?
Answer:

I had a 14 year old girl, recite 90% of the lyrics to my song "No One Gets Out Alive", after she heard it once!  Then she asked me if we would be playing it, explaining that "It's my favorite song, I was here last year when you played it!"  When I commented that it couldn't be her favorite song since she'd only heard it once, to which she replied, "yeah bit it hit me so hard, I turned your poster over and wrote done the words so I wouldn't forget them!"  She then proceeded to recite them to me!  WOW!

That's when I knew, I was on to something with my songwriting!

What is your definition of success as an artist? How do you measure this success?
Answer:

An artist is somebody who can make you feel, and see the things that go on in your life, in a brighter light.  Who can help you understand that we have way more in common, and we are not alone in this world!

If you could alter the music industry in any way, what would you change and why?
Answer:

Put quality above profit, within reason of course.  Keep some sense of responsibility to both artists and the listeners!  NEVER PUSH IDEAS THROUGH MSUIC THAT ARE INHERENTLY CORROSIVE TO SOCIETY!  The "old" way was to allow artists to make any music they chose, but they would pay for their choices.  If you wnated to use harsh language or imagery, you did so knowing that, those songs would not receive media play.  Now you can put out a song like W.A.P. or Crazy Bitch, and they just barely bleep out the offensive language, but still push the songs!  I love "Crazy Bitch", but I do not think I should have ever heard it the radio!  LOL

Jefferson Starship understood that when they did "Stairway To Cleveland", that it would NEVER receive airplay, but they did it anyway, because, "Fuck You, we do what we want."  That's how it should be!

What three words would you want your fanbase to use to describe you?
Answer:

Honest, Bold, Heartfelt

What has been your most embarassing moment while pursuing music?
Answer:

First song in front of a large crowd opening for Nazareth, when my keyboard froze ona single note!  Had to stop, power down and restart, and then start over!

Name three artists you’d like to be compared to.
Answer:

Songwriters who I believe transcend all methods of measurement in their brilliance.  Perhaps: Bob Dylan, Travis Meadows and Steven Wilson Jr., though there are many others, like Shawn Mullins, Ray Davies, David Baerwald, etc.....    EVEYTHING is about the quality of the song!

What is your overarching goal as an artist?
Answer:

To leave a legacy that my children can be proud of!

If you could only listen to three artists for the rest of your life, who would you choose and why?
Answer:

NO!    Impossible to limit me to three!

What is your favorite way of sharing your music?
Answer:

To sit by a campfire with an acoustic guitar and explain why I wrote this song! To see the immediate reactions of people hearing it for the first time!
