Antonio Guedes Perspective on Ficar Com Você

I see my path close to what Bowie and Prince built — they created without limits and refused to be boxed in. That freedom is what I chase. At times, I want to light up a club with energy, other times I go inward and create something more intimate. For me, it’s about pushing art forward, not chasing business formulas.

Music isn’t just something I do — it’s who I am. It’s as natural as breathing, the way I make sense of the world and stay alive. It’s not really a choice, it’s the only path that fits me. There’s nothing I want more than to keep creating. Music is my center, my way of living fully, and without it I’d be lost. Only when you truly surrender to that — when you give yourself completely to the process — can you really elevate your art.

Ideally, I don’t want to be compared to anyone — that’s the dream. But at times I can sound like Dennis Brown, other times I’m dropping things like Bootsy Collins. People have compared me to Jorge Ben for the samba rock grooves, Tim Maia for the soul vibes, and even Tribalistas in some tracks. And then my next single is coming in more like the Beastie Boys — a straight-up banger with 80s pop energy.

That even in moments of burnout and collapse, music can be a way back — it transforms pain into connection and reminds me why I’m here.
